Prep Time: 1 hour
Cook Time: 5-7 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 ball of homemade pizza dough (approximately 6 ounces) - Trader Joe's pizza dough is a good alternative (each dough can be halved to make 2 thin crusts).See this dough recipe
- ⅓ cup marinara sauce
- 3 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese (¾ cup shredded mozzarella)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Bunch of Basil
- Rice flour or fine cornmeal if rice flour isn't available for generously dusting the pizza peel (Amazon has a number of 12"x14" aluminum pizza peels) to prevent sticking.
Instructions:
- Preheat the Ferno with all 3 valves set to medium and the burners in the lowest position and the lid closed for at least 30 minutes.
- Gently stretch the dough into a pizza shape and place on a well dusted pizza peel, add sauce and toppings and quickly transfer to the grill.
- Bake for approximately 5-7 minutes
***Please note that preheating with burners on high will cause the grates to overheat and the pizza will burn on the bottom and be under cooked on top.
***Do not leave a prepared pizza on the peel, the sauce and toppings are often full of moisture and will eventually cause the dough to stick to the peel making it nearly impossible to transfer the pizza to the grill.
